Why It Matters:
Innovation is critical to protecting the lives and health of soldiers and medics operating on the frontline. Through this project, we were able to support the procurement of an unmanned ground vehicle (UGV), providing our partners with advanced technology designed to improve the safety and effectiveness of rescue operations.
In addition to financing the UGV itself, we also funded auxiliary equipment and spare components required for ongoing maintenance and repair, helping to ensure the system remains continuously operational in the field.
A UGV is a remotely operated robot designed to carry out logistics and evacuation missions in terrain that is too dangerous for rescue teams to enter directly. In many frontline areas, particularly within heavily targeted “kill zones” extending several kilometers behind the line of contact, Russian drone surveillance and strike capabilities severely restrict movement. In these areas, wounded soldiers are often extremely difficult to evacuate safely, while even the recovery of fallen personnel can pose significant risks to medics and rescue teams.
The purpose of this project is to reduce the exposure of medical personnel to these threats by enabling certain evacuation and logistics missions to be conducted remotely where possible. By supporting the deployment of UGVs, the unit can continue carrying out critical evacuations while lowering the risks faced by the medics responsible for saving lives.
